New Website
The Minnesota
Vipassana
Association has
recently launched
its new website at visuddhi.dhamma.org.
The site is more
modern in design and
technology, making
use of a
user-friendly
content management
system. Students
will find an
abundance of
resources both local
and international in
scope. The Old
Student username
remains: oldstudent
and the password:
behappy.
Long
Term Service
Dhamma Visuddhi is
now accepting
applications for
long-term servers.
Long term service
entails serving the
sitting courses in
addition to
between-course
projects ranging
from landscaping and
painting to cooking
and cleaning. If
interested, please
review the long-term
service information
on the Dhamma
Service page of the
website
and contact: [email protected]
One-Day
Service/Adopt a Job
With robust summer
enrollments
expected, Dhamma
Visuddhi always
needs servers on day
zero, ten and
eleven. These are
great opportunities
to serve at the
center with minimal
time commitments
while directly
contributing to the
core purpose of the
center. Please check
the Dhamma Service
page of the website
for details and a
link to the sign-up
sheet.
Service Periods
Dhamma Vissudhi's
first Service Period
of 2016 focused on a
major remodeling
project in the
kitchen. Old
equipment was
removed and new
sinks and tables
were installed along
with flooring and
plumbing. More
service periods are
scheduled with lots
of fun projects
planned. Register
any time on the
Course Schedule page
of the website.
Sati
Course
The Minnesota
Vipassana
Association will be
offering a
Satipatthana Sutta
course this June at
Dhamma Visuddhi.
This 8 day course
begins on a Friday
night and ends on
Sunday morning.
Exclusively for
experienced Old
Students, the course
follows the same
timetable and
discipline as the
10-day, with
Goenkaji's evening
discourses carefully
examining the
Satipatthana Sutta,
the principal text
in which the
technique of
Vipassana is
systematically
explained. Check the
Course Schedule page
for dates,
experience
requirements and
enrollment status.
March
2016 - 2015
marks an important
change in Dhamma
Pakasas path of
development.
The Center has taken
its first steps in
establishing the
infrastructure
needed for future
expansion. Designs
for a septic system
supporting 150
occupants were
approved, and the
leach field
installation was
completed in the
southern five acres
(purchased a year
ago for this
purpose)

Why
Serve at a
Center?
Many of us have
heard Goenkaji
speak to the
value of
service, and
especially
service at a
Center, in
helping us
develop
Paramis.
Paramis are
those good
qualities that
help us to
'cross over'
from the world
of suffering
to an
experience of
Enlightenment.
We think that,
'I'm doing
this to get
enlightened,
so why don't I
just meditate
as much as
possible.'
However, the
strength of
one's
meditation is
derived from
the strength
of ones
Paramis. Read

The
July 2015
Childrens
Course at
Dhamma Pakasa
was attended
by a whopping
number of 41
students. This was a very exciting event,
and with about
15 additional
people serving
the course,
the Dhamma
Hall was
filled to
capacity!
This
September and
October will
see major
construction
work take
place at the
center.Another
portion of the
new septic
system will be
installed and
will gather
waste from the
existing
Dhamma Hall
and Dining
Hall/Kitchen
and will be
pumped up to
the new septic
field that was
installed late
last year. Yet
another more
exciting piece
of work will
also take
place in this
same time
frame, the
existing
Dining Hall
and Kitchen
will be
expanded to
accommodate
the first
phase total
expansion for
80 students.
The technology committee
recently
upgraded the
Dhamma Pakasa
website (pakasa.dhamma.org ), and it is now compatible
with
smartphones,
tablets and
other mobile
devices. The
new website
provides
numerous
benefits
including a
way for you to
navigate to
the Center
using your
smartphone. It
has also
simplified
making updates
to the
website,so
check back
often for the
latest news.
Please
send a note to [email protected]
if you have any
suggestions for
improving the new
site or are
interested in
participating in
similar technology
