Septic System Installation: First Major Step Toward Center Expansion at Dhamma Pakasa
The recently installed septic field at Dhamma Pakasa represents a necessary infrastructure upgrade and the first major step toward expansion of the Center.
During a recently completed extended work period, the leach field, a major component of the new septic system, was installed in the five-acre parcel that was recently purchased and added to the Center. The leach field will still require new pumping stations to be installed before the new system is fully functional. Preliminary design for the new pumping stations has been completed and installation is scheduled to take place during an extended work period scheduled for late summer of 2016. Completion of these stations will pave the way for additional steps toward expansion of the Center. Until then the Center will continue to operate using the existing septic systems.
Following these new septic system improvements, expansion of the existing dining hall and kitchen is also being scheduled for late summer. These improvements will permit the center to accommodate a total of 80 students and servers. Completion of the first phase will also include construction of the new Dhamma Hall with meditation cells and Assistant Teacher residences, a new dormitory, infrastructure upgrades to the roads and electrical system, and a new fire protection system. The timing of these upgrades will be dependent upon the receipt of Dana to cover the costs.
Due to the Center’s present debt structure, funding for the expansion will come from Dana and Old Student loans. Dana for the Center expansion can only be accepted from students who have successfully completed a 10-day course. Click here if you wish to contribute Dana for Center expansion.
